Hair Care is as Important as Breathing: Jassi Chabra

Must Read

Like the phoenix, Jassi Chabra, has risen from hardships and mediocrity to make a name for herself in the field of hairstyling. She shares with Salon India what it takes to be a great hairstylist and her plans for the future.

The Beginning

My career as a professional hair stylist began with my association with L’Oréal. In 1997, I joined the various courses organised by them. My life was full of hardships in the initial days of my career. Without family support it was hard for me to continue the business.

Journey so far

It has been phenomenal and colourful. I have won three awards at the L’Oréal Color Trophy regional level in 2006. I’ve worked on hair shows held by L’Oréal in 2008, Bollywood projects like Jism 2, and fashion weeks held in Jaipur.

I have also worked with celebrities such as Diana Penty, Vasundhara Raje (CM of Rajasthan), Sunny Leone, Zeenat Aman, Veena Malik, Toshi Sabri, Shavar and Zulfi Ali.

Would love to style

Katrina Kaif, Sonu Nigam, and Angelina Jolie.

Inspiration

My inspiration as a hairstylist is the L’Oréal Professional Dream Team as well as those hairstylists working at Toni&Guy in Singapore.

Success Mantra

Dedication, hard work and passion for my work are the three essential points for success.

The Hairstyling Industry

I would say yesterday’s ignorance has turned up into a great business. People are literate and smart to understand the value of hair care. It is as important as breathing. If I have to talk about efficiency, I would say it is directly related to knowledge.

Advice to Aspirants

Keep up the hardwork and be dedicated and loyal to your work.

Future

I want to exchange knowledge and elevate society. My idea is to provide more employment, thereby making people independent in a healthy environment.
