Global fashion and lifestyle brand Smiley has announced its plans to enter the Indian market by setting up exclusive Smiley stores. The outlets will stock the merchandise of The Smiley Company including apparel, sportswear, shoes, bags, jewellery, school merchandise, accessories, Smiley branded chocolates, and confectionery.
The company showcased its “Smiley London” and Smiley “Happy Sports” product range at India Fashion Forum 2014 currently being held in Mumbai. Happy Sports targets 18-to 35-year olds offering tee’s, tops, hoodies, varsity jackets, baseball caps, and beanies.
Brandspoke, which specialises in introducing international brands in India in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle categories, is seeking Indian partners including distributors, manufacturers, and franchisees for the brand through Inventure, its India representative.
Commenting on the announcement, Nicolas Loufrani, CEO, Smiley, said: “India is currently Smiley’s number one market in the digital world and represents almost 15 percent of our entire global fan base. Having started to seed our positive values online and seeing the tremendous interaction with our Indian fans we feel it is now time to extend our activities here and provide them with the Smiley products they all wish to see.”
Smiley was founded in 1972 by Franklin Loufrani. The Smiley brand has licensees in for clothing, home decoration, perfumery, and stationery.
