Shortage of trained manpower, over 6 percent monthly attrition and increasingly disengaged front-end staff are the 3 major challenges being faced by the retail industry, putting a greater onus on discovering and tapping new talent pools. Persons with Disabilities (PwD), with a population of 70 million but less than 1 percent employability, provide a unique opportunity as they are largely untapped source of manpower, with the right skills to play a multitude of roles in the sector. This research by Pankh, a TRRAIN – Youth 4 Jobs Initiative, and Accenture; breaks many myths related to PwD, and also outlines a clear roadmap to attract and retain PwD in the workplace.
