Steeped in Divinity: Sohum Spa

Must Read

Based in Anand, Gujarat, the Sohum Spa at Madhuban Resort & Spa is a destination for those who are seeking wellness as a way of life. With nature inspired design, the spa is based on the properties of earth and water, which is well illustrated by the ample use of natural stone and water bodies. Moreover light sculpture add to the overall look and feel.

Treatments, too, take inspiration from these elements, and incorporate techniques from Chinese, Indian, European and Balinese concepts. However it’s the cascading waterfalls, the fish pond and the lush greenery that really catches the attention.

The smart use of space, imparts a sense of vastness to this spa built with wood and natural stone. Some of the attractive elements are its exquisite wood artwork, spacious lounge with a huge LED television and the view of the fruit orchards.

Eco-sensitivity is at the heart of the spa at Madhubhan. The building is designed to allow as much natural light to flood in as possible and the materials used to build it are locally sourced. The unfailingly kind and gentle staff give it a special healing energy, and its programme of yoga, Ayurveda and Vedanta is as emotionally uplifting as it is physically effective.

Sohum Spa is equipped with seven treatment rooms, one Vichy shower and two Jacuzzi rooms. All therapists are trained from the Sohum Academy of Wellness. After relaxing at the spa, try one of the various health juices from the wellness bar nearby. The carrot and apple juice is particularly note worthy. The wellness bar also serves salads and fresh fruits.

The spa is also accompanied by a salon with chic interiors. The all white salon with its large floor to ceiling glass windows holds two manicure/pedicure chairs and four hair stations.

Services:

Sohum offers various healing, relaxing and pampering services. All therapies begin with a cool caffeine-free beverage, which is followed by a relaxing foot wash ritual to symbolically cleanse stress away.

Among the various treatments on offer are the body massages, foot and hand reflexology, skin refinements, body scrubs, body envelopment (wraps), facial, hydro soak therapies and Ayurvedic wellness packages that span seven, 14 and 21 days. The most popular therapy is the Bali Massage that involves relaxing acupressure, skin rolling and firm, smooth strokes along specific energy channels. This ritual is a confluence of the best of the healing traditions of Siam, China and India.
