Chef Michael Swamy is a Food stylist, travel photographer and writer based in Mumbai, India. A graduate from the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School, London, Michael worked with several Michelin Chefs who observed his work closely and encouraged him to enter the world of Food Media.
As a food writer, he is also the author of “The East Indian Kitchen” which won the Gourmand Award 2011-12 in the Best Indian Cookbook (Technical) category. He has also worked with Michelin starred Chef Vikas Khanna on his books My Great India Cookbook, Savour Mumbai and Everyone Can Cook. He has recently directed a food show for Yahoo featuring Chef Khanna called Vikas@Home.
Swamy was also the Food Consultant for Master Chef India Season 1 & 2. He not only designed the challenges for the show but also headed the food team. Swamy then handled the show “Ravinder’s Kitchen” on TLC with UK-based celebrity chef Ravinder Bhogal, as also the show “Sanjeev Kapoor ke Kithcen Khiladi” on Sony channel. He has also been featured on Zee Marathi’s “Aamhi Saare Khavaiyye” and Australian Broadcast Channel.
He also writes for the Lifestyle section of Yahoo! India, iDiva.com, PioneerChef.com, CaLDRON as also Jetwings & Jetlite (Jet Airways In-flight Magazine), Liquid Magazine (Spenta), Asian Photography, Publishing Houses like Westland & Tranquebar, Wilco & Rupa, Burrp., poshvine.com and several travel books on health, food & drink, travel (local, national & international).
Swamy has been awarded with Top 50 Chefs in India 2012 award by Indian Chefs Association, The Gourmand Award Paris 2012 for Best Indian Cookbook (The East Indian Kitchen).
He has recently concluded a 7-city tour doing workshops on the theme of “Wine in Food” in association with Nine Hills.
