They delivere what they promise! As dicussed last year in a press meet the Indian textile giant, Raymond, and the global textile fibre brand, The Woolmark Company have launched the Cool Wool Menswear Collection in India. Designed by Gaurav Jai Gupta, the collection is made of 100 percent wool fabric and natural fibres such as silk, cotton and linen. The collection, representing contemporary styling and subtle designs for men, was displayed on the ramp at Australian High Commission with Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda as a showstopper.
To design the collection lightweight Merino Wool is used with maximum 190 g/m2 of weight and 22.5 micron diameter. It is natural, breathable and has thermal-management properties, which makes it appropriate for the summer wardrobe. “Cool Wool is one of the most easily adaptable trans-seasonal fabrics for Indian weather, which maximises its wearing opportunities,” said Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Peter Ackroyd, Global Strategic Advisor, The Woolmark Company, said: India has tropical climate and customers avoid wearing woollens in summers as they clearly identify the fabric with winters. We want to negate this notion and Indian customers need to understand the true potential, versatility and the benefits of using wool in summers.”
As per Bernard Philip, Australia’s Acting High Commissioner, Australia is world’s leading wool producer, accounting for around one quarter of the global wool production. Also, the country has a long tradition of trade with India. “In 2012-2013, India was the second largest market for Australian wool and Australia was the largest source of India’s wool import.” he said.
The Cool Wool Collection is wearable round the year in the country. It will be available at Raymond stores and multi-brand outlets from March 2014 onwards.
