Kolkata Callin’ Eyes Rs 1.5 Crore Turnover this Fiscal

Mumbai-based Bengali restaurant Kolkata Callin’ is eyeing a turnover of Rs 1.5 crore this fiscal. The brand also plans to grow steadily before expanding to other cities or regions. Spread over 850 sq.ft. and opened in March 2014, the restaurant offers vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters, main course, and desserts including gravies – chicken, mutton, prawns and fish; Kolkata style biryanis; variety of street food snacks like rolls, cutlets, chops and mughlais; desserts like the Paayesh (Bengali Kheer), among others.

Before opening a restaurant, Sanjay Mukherjee, Owner, Kolkata Callin’, started a quick service format kiosk in Andheri East to test the market. With an increasing demand for Bengali dishes, Mukherjee finally revamped the entire model by offering a fine dining experience in Kolkata Callin’.

On choosing Mumbai as a location of his first restaurant Mukherjee mentioned that he wanted to cater to the Andheri East residents who travelled great distances for the Bengali cuisine. “We have a mix of 50 percent Bengali and 50 percent non Bengali customers from not only the suburbs (Andheri West, Bandra, etc) but also from the town (Worli, Colaba, etc),” said Mukherjee.
