Neel Sutra, a concept fashion store is launching at The Oberoi Gurgaon this weekend. The main focus of this store would be on handwoven textiles. With a deep-rooted love for Indian crafts, fashion designer Deepika Govind had a vision to pay tribute to the country’s rich heritage of human workmanship.
She brought together the creations of several skilled designers who shared her passion. Retailing pieces by Rohit Bal, Anju Modi, Abraham & Thakore, Péro by Aneeth Arora, Pankaj & Nidhi, Rahul Mishra, Arjun Saluja, and her own designs too, Neel Sutra is her labour of love. Sunil Sethi, president of Fashion Design Council of India has co-curated the store.
The store also houses a menswear section and a ‘Sari Room’, an entire space dedicated to bespoke handwoven sari in Kanjivaram, Patola silk, Chanderi, Ikat, Jamdani, Uppada and Paithani weaves. The idea is to bring together varying design sensibilities and typical handiwork from different parts of India under one roof.
