Former Reliance Retail lifestyle chief executive Bijou Kurien has joined L Capital Asia as a member of the strategic advisory board according to a leading daily. L Capital Asia is the PE arm of LVMH, the French luxury retailer. Kurien, 54, quit Reliance last year.
With two funds valued at $635 million and $950 million, L Capital Asia, invests heavily in Southeast Asia in the consumer space. The company has invested $113 million in different Indian companies including Fabindia, Genesis Luxury, and PVR Cinemas from its $635 million fund.
L Capital’s senior management comprises Ravi Thakran as the managing partner who has worked with Nike, Swatch and the Tata group; Sanjay Gujral as the regional managing director (Singapore), Gujral has worked in the capacity of executive director of Everstone Capital and VP – EY in the past; and Uday Mehra appointed as the regional managing director (India) who has worked with Nike and Tommy Hilfiger at senior level.
Kurien began his career with Hindustan Unilver where he worked as a management trainee followed by a 19-year stint at Titan Industries after which he moved to Reliance Retail.
