Know how the Vrijesh Natural Fibre and Fabrics has bagged the European flax honour for its Linen work in India.
European Flax, the global trademark of CELC (The European Confederation of Linen and Hemp) has authorised Vrijesh Natural Fibre and Fabrics (VNFF) to use the European Flax mark in all its linen fabric production. The mark is European Unions official authority for linen production in Europe.
This mark is a guarantee of traceability for premium linen fibre grown in Europe. Flax is a natural and sustainable fibre, grown without artificial irrigation and GMO free. Only European fibre gives the most comfortable and long lasting linen fabrics. VNFF is the second company from India to receive this coveted mark.
VNFF was founded in 1970 by C L Agarwal, the company was renowned for manufacturing good quality silk yarns. The company has come a long way since then and is today a market leader in linen fabrics sold under ‘Linen Fiesta’ brand . It is also a Govt of India recognised export house and exports scarves to high-end customers in Europe and the US such as Massimo Dutti, Tommy Hilfiger and Altea. It reached a turnover of US$ 14 million in 2012-13 and expects to maintain a healthy growth rate in the years to come.
Linen Fiesta fabrics are sold through a dealer network to all leading menswear outlets across India. The company has recently launched 120 lea x 120 lea count fabrics which are the finest linen fabrics produced commercially.
Linen Fiesta was producing linen clothing in India mainly for menswear, but a growing section of women have come to realise and appreciate the comfort and natural properties of linen. Understanding this growing demand for linen, it launched a new range aimed at the womenswear market in India. They use 100 percent linen and linen rich fabrics in their collections. All the fabrics are made from 100 percent European fibre and undergo the same stringent process to get the soft hand.
The collection are designed by the inhouse team of designers who are well conversant with the trends in India and they bring out four collections every year.
They have extensive manufacturing facilities including two plants in Vapi (Gujarat) which are both ISO 9001:2008 accredited by BSI UK; and a socially compliant garmenting factory in Bengaluru.
The weaving plant at Vapi consists of 72 looms. This plant weaves 100 percent linen fabrics in counts ranging from 0.5 Nm to 60 Nm.
On the company’s expansion plans Atul Agrawal, director, Linen Fiesta says, “At present we are producing 2 million meters of linen fabric a year. We want to increase the production to 20-25 percent this year. In order to achieve this we have ordered new Somet looms for our Vapi manufacturing unit.”
