Finale of the LFW WF’14

Must Read

The show opened with the stylish collections by Megha Garg, Sonaakshi Raaj and Pallavi Singhee. Putting an emphasis on colour and drapes, Megha Garg presented an ethereal feminine collection called ‘The Warrior Soul’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter Festive 2014.

The USP of the designer was the special technique of pocketing and quilting sequins between fabrics, which took nearly two years to develop and was the focal point of the collection.

Paying tribute to the strength of the Indian woman, Megha displayed gorgeous gowns and dresses with intricate draped panels and structured patterns that resembled an armour. To create the feminine folds, the designer opted for raw edged organza hems, which were delicately attached to knit dresses.

The quilted sequins effect appeared as checked hologram, armour, honeycomb yokes or shell effects for dresses and gowns. Fabrics that gave life to the collection were flat chiffon, organza, net, heavy weight jersey and satin.

The colour story was a pleasant rainbow of hues that gave the ensembles a glamorous touch. Coffee, light pink, white, deep green/ brown orange, red, white, black and blue came seamlessly together for the elegant collection.

Known as the ‘Sari-gown Specialist’, Sonaakshi Raaj presented her opulent line of Red Carpet creations called ‘Rebel with a Cause’ at the fashion festival.

Her finely crafted couture gowns reflected a luxurious style with some edgy detailing. Selecting colours that will glow in the dark as the wearer glides down the celebrity carpet; Sonaakshi had oxblood red, nude, charcoal and brought in Metallics for glittering drama. Interesting drapes were an experiment Sonaakshi loved to undertake. The fluid fabrics added to the charm of the flirty sensuous silhouettes of the garments and detailing was meticulously added to highlight the construction.

Making a dramatic entry was the peach sari gown with drop-shoulder glittering blouse, followed by a halter gold mesh creation. Jumpsuits in gold had beaded tassels, while the sharply cut white embroidered one-button jacket worn with side slit pants was ideal cocktail wear.
An interesting innovation was the red pant-cum-sari, the churidar draped sari, beaded body suit teamed with a dhoti-sari, poncho over corset and draped skirt and the textured top with a blue tulip skirt. Embellished boleros added variety to the collection, Jodhpur pants had body-con blouses and the black Grecian sari gown with dazzling gold work was stunning.

The show stopping entry was sexy Malaika Arora Khan in a post-box red lacy embroidered gown with a layered luxurious tulle flounce.
‘J’aime La Vie – I Love Life’ was the title of Pallavi Singhee’s collection from her label ‘Verb’ at LFW WF’14. The designer’s aim was to make women gorgeous, which Pallavi’s ensembles succeeded without a doubt as the models strutted down the ramp in a variety of garments.

From stylish day wear ideal for a lunch appointment, to practical black and white skirts and shirts, the collection moved to formal dresses and slinky pencil skirts. There was a mélange of options for the fashionable lady. She could wear cute shirt dresses for an afternoon brunch or go for cropped tops over high waist full skirts.

For something more dramatic a sheer black lace and organza number, with silk trims and sporty ribbed detailing will get the lady ample compliments. Sleek figure hugging midi skirts could also add excitement to a fashionista’s wardrobe.

The colour card was restricted to blue, beige and black for the semiformal and formal wear that will be just right for the festive season. Organza, tulle, crepe, lace and knit added to the style and construction of the ensembles

Appliqués and stunning embellishments appeared regularly for the pants, jackets, dresses, tops and gowns; to add a fragile touch to the clothes.

Particularly striking was the beige cutwork embroidered maxi, black asymmetric embellished shirt, black organza cutwork lace pencil skirt and the embroidered tie and dye pencil dress.

For the woman who “J’aime La Vie” then Pallavi Singhee’s collection of the same name will create a fashionable life she will love.
