Biba Apparels Takes Stake in Anju Modi

Biba Apparels one of the leading ethnicwear brand in India, has signed an agreement for a substantial minority stake, in one of finest fashion and costume designer – Anju Modi. Biba has been an integral part of the retail revolution in India and has pioneered different forms of retail like shop-in-shop models with large format stores and Bollywood Merchandising. The brand has a strong retail presence with 162 exclusive outlets across 65 cities, apart from presence in all the major retail chains in the country.

Since the inception of her label in 1990, Anju Modi has continuously been working with master artisans across the country, evolving the label as one that does not only derive from the design heritage but also contributes to the bank of textile reserves and the ancient crafts. She has delicately and dedicatedly revived age-old Indian techniques, long forgotten.

The designer has most recently received much critical appraisal and prestigious honors for the Costume Design for Deepika Padukone & Priyanka Chopra for Ram-Leela. She is now working on the costumes for the lead actors – Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone – for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming movie ‘Baaji Rao Mastani’.
