The Energy Conservation Award in Textiles Goes to Arvind

Arvind has bagged the first prize in the textile sector in the National Energy Conservation Award 2014 of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Out of 70 textile players contesting for this award, Arvind bagged the First Prize due to major energy savings achieved on account of various initiatives.

The National Energy Conservation Day, which is celebrated every year in India on 14th of December, witnesses giving out of ‘National Energy Conservation Award’ by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to companies from different industry groups for creating benchmarks in energy conservation.

Arvind bagged the award on the back of nearly 22 per cent reduction in specific consumption in thermal energy and 18 per cent reduction in power usage from last financial year, the company stated in an official communique.

The company achieved power savings through energy efficient air compressors, unity power factor, reduction in specific consumption in humidification plant, energy efficient boilers and power savings in lights using LEDs and magnetic amplifiers. Modifications were done in pumps and motors for optimum and high efficiency running along with utilization of day light in the plant.
