Different strokes with eyebrows and make-up

Must Read

We often try to opt for the eyebrow style that suits our face cut, however, what we can also do is change our face look by trying out various styles other than the one we mostly stick to. There are basically four to five different eyebrow styles as per the face shape. Samaanta Diwvedi, make-up artist, also recommends the type of make-up one must opt for depending on the eyebrow and face cut. But, there is no hard and fast rule.

The most prominent facial feature that can be played upon from time to time dependingSamaanta Diwvedi on the occasion, face cut and age, the eyebrow lends character to a face. Samaanta Diwvedi, make-up artist and founder of www.zuri.in gives us tips

Round or curved eyebrows
While round eyebrows have no angle and just one curve, curved brows have a slight sharp angle. Those with heart shaped or oval face types and sharp features should try out these shapes. Shilpa Shetty, actress, has sharp facial features, therefore her signature round eyebrows make her look traditional, yet modern. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s eyebrows shilpaare not particularly curved, but are close to being labelled as curved. With thick medium arch high up (away from the eyes), her eyes look smaller than they are. If you have small eyes and love arched eyebrows, then opt for a low arch. This will make your eyes look big, however, your face will look smaller than usual.

Lips: Heart and oval shaped face cuts usually have prominent cheek bones and, therefore, to balance it out, the focus is moved towards the eyes, hence the eyebrows are usually rounded or curved. To emphasise the usually narrow chins, it is suggested that one goes for a neutral lip colour. Neither too light, nor too dark, such as a rose pink, brown or soft purple. One needs to be really careful with the lip liner. Apply more than is required on the lower lip line to help maintain the proportion.
Cheeks: Just dab very little soft pink blush on your cheeks. Ideally try and do away with foundation and/or concealer. You don’t want the already prominent cheekbones to grab more attention.
Eyes: Zuri recommends softer hues. Pinks, beige, light browns go well with round and
curved eyebrows.

Hard angled eyebrows
As the name suggests, this style has a prominent sharp angle that suit a heavy face and give it a slim impression. This style adds exuberance and freshness to the face and suits round and curved face types. Those with a rectangular face cut, like Demi Moore, can also try this style to shift the focus from their heavy jawlines.

Lips: Apply a small amount of lip liner to the sides and wear a dark lipstick shade, preferably oxblood red or fuchsia pink to ensure the face looks bold and not super rounded.
Cheeks: Zuri recommends a darker tone of blush for a bolder and less rounded look.
Eyes: Again, try for dark shades and hues that seem to go well with the lip make-up. Tones of purple and pink are bound to give a bold look, especially if you are dressing up
for a special occasion.

Soft angled eyebrows
They have an angle with soft curves and look amazing on diamond, rectangular, triangular and even square shaped face cuts. Soft angled eyebrows tone down the bipashaangles of the angular, square and diamond shape face cuts. Such eyebrows create a balanced impression of the face weight. You would have probably noticed Bipasha Basu’s diamond shape face cut. The facial proportion has been achieved by soft angled
eyebrows.

Lips: Apply a light border of lip liner at the edges of your lips. Avoid darker shades, instead opt for a subtle and light coloured lip stain like a dull orange, soft pink and beige. One must avoid the neon palette and hot pink because the focus will then shift to the broader jawline or chin.
Cheeks: If you have a fair complexion, Zuri suggests not going in for bright shades of pink and orange. But in any case, apply a decent amount of blush in circular motions to ensure that the focus shifts from angles to your eyes and nose.
Eyes: Opt for unique colours for eye shadows. Try scarlet, lavender and ice blue! Such shades highlight your facial features, especially your eyes. You can break the conventions and go a little quirky with soft angled eyebrows.

Flat eyebrows
A straight line with no curves and absolutely no angles whatsoever, the flat eyebrow is
best suited on a long or rectangular face cut.
