The Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa was launched in 1995. Set against the Santa Catalina Mountains in the Sonoran Desert, the 17,000 sq ft property offers a stunning backdrop to help visitors relax, refresh and become more aware of themselves and their surroundings. The Miraval Life in Balance Spa has 23 treatment rooms spread over a total of 16,000 sq ft.
Design dynamics
The architectural firm, Mithun Architects and designer, Clodagh Design, were given a simple enough brief. The spa reflects the resort’s core philosophy of living life in the moment. Designed to transform its guests, both physically and emotionally using nurture, rest and renewal, the spa shifts the focus of its guests from the exterior world to the inner sanctuary both within the spa and within themselves. Clodagh Design and Mithun Architects collaborated to create a spa that blends seamlessly into the surrounding Arizona desert.
To this end, all the senses and elements have been enlisted in a cavalcade of design and natural elements. With a focus on sustainability, the spa’s luxury is not about excess or opulence, but an efficient use of natural resources, products and furnishings made from sustainable materials.

Ultimate Ayurvedic Treatment for 100 minutes: This treatment includes vital elements of Ayurvedic therapies to present guests with the ultimate restorative experience. The treatment begins with an Abhyanga massage to 
loosen toxins and increase circulation. Marma point therapy is applied to cleanse and balance the energy, a profoundly calming sensation. For further relaxation, a soothing stream of gently heated oil is poured over the forehead.
Nâga Thai Massage for 100 minutes: Nâga is a Miraval Spa service 
evolving from the healing principals of Thai Massage. A therapist uses strands of richly colored silk suspended from above as an extension of their body. The silks are used by the provider for entwining and gracefully suspending themselves as well as wrapping and supporting the body, taking it deeper into the stretches and releasing restrictions impairing full movement. Miraval Signature Massage for 50-80-100 minutes: A head to toe journey to tranquility tailored to one’s individual needs. The treatment begins with a relaxing Swedish massage infused with an aromatherapy essential oil chosen to either calm, revitalise or stimulate the senses. The oils deliver a powerful nutrient punch, leaving muscles in a blissful state of repose.
