Mega Textile Cluster Comes to Srirampura

Srirampura has been selected as the site for a planned mega textile cluster in Mysore, India.
The union government has approved setting up the textile cluster in Mysore, in addition to releasing Rs 28 crore ($4.5 million) into the facility. Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha explained that land has been identified for establishing the mega textile cluster at Srirampura, on the outskirts of the city.
The site at Srirampura would be one of eight such clusters that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley previously proclaimed and designated Rs 200 crore ($32 million) for the textile sector. The textile sector accounts for 15 percent of industrial production, 4 percent of the GDP and 11 percent of India’s export earnings as he second largest provider of employment after agriculture.
