Dabur to boost rural employment through Swavalamban programme

Must Read

FMCG major Dabur has joined hands with the Rural Development and Self-Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) for a mega initiative aimed at improving the employment opportunities for rural youth under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Named as Swavalamban, the 10-day programme will provide training on three key areas of Sales, Merchandising and Promotion. The course will include in-house coaching, filed training, exams and extra-curricular activity.
Speaking during the launch, Dabur India Ltd Head of Global Human Capital and CSR,  A Sudhakar said, “India will have a strong surplus in working population (age 15-50) by 2020, which should help us maintain the momentum on this growth story. A significant portion of this demographic dividend lies in rural areas, which will be one of the important growth engines in future. To leverage this advantage, we feel that it is imperative that companies should also focus on skill building and vocational training to make the youth employable in the organised sector.”
The courses being offered are Sales (for Salesman/Selling skills), Merchandising (for Visibility of Product and POS), and Promoter (for Attending customer). The initiative also seek to provide guaranteed employment to these youth, post completing their training.
Last month, Dabur with some other corporate houses laid out budget for PM’s Swachh Bharat project, earmarking over Rs 1,000 crore for the project.
