METRO Cash & Carry, the world’s largest wholesaler, is to open its fourth wholesale outlet in Bangalore, making it the company’s 17th wholesale distribution centre in India.
The outlet will be opened in late June or early July in Binnypet area. The company had entered Bangalore in 2003 with their first two wholesale outlets at Yeshwanthpur and Kanakapura Road. This was followed by a third outlet that opened on Hosur Road in December 2013.
“METRO has built an enviable reputation in Bangalore by providing high quality products and services at the best possible prices. We look forward to engaging further in Bangalore with local small and medium-sized businesses who can help us localize our assortments as part of our supplier network, providing greater cost savings and relevance,” said Rajeev Bakshi, Managing Director, METRO Cash & Carry India.
Early last year, METRO announced its plans to expand its network of distribution centres to 50 by 2020. Metro’s third wholesale outlet in Shamshabad, Hyderabad is also geared to open around the same time as the company’s latest Binnypet outlet in Bangalore.
The company offers close to 8,500 world-class products across a multitude of categories – such as fruits & vegetables, general grocery, dairy, frozen & bakery products, fish & meat, confectionery, detergents & cleaning supplies, health & beauty products, media & electronics, household goods and apparel.
