US footwear brand Crocs reportedly plans to team up with multiple franchise partners to roll out about 150 exclusive outlets and another 250 shop-in-shop formats across the country over the next three to five years.
Crocs had entered India in 2007 through a joint venture with Chogori Retail, which was later converted into a franchise operation. The contract, however, was terminated in September 2014.
The exclusive collaboration saw 32 standalone stores in India. “Chogori terminated the contract with Crocs — it was their choice. A company continues to evolve through partners. Crocs has now moved on to the next stage of growth in the Indian market,” Crocs India GM Nissan Joseph was quoted as saying.
Crocs will now team up with multiple franchise partners to set up 100-150 outlets. The chain’s retail points through MBOs is reportedly set to rise to 800 from the current 550 in two years’ time.
Along with the retail stores, Crocs is aiming to expand its India’s operation on online channels as well, through Amazon, Jabong and Myntra.
