United Group, Tangentia launch cloud-based EDI solution

Must Read

India-origin company United Group and Canadian boutique IT consulting company Tangentia have come together to launch a cloud based EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) solution portal called Tangentia Commerce Gateway.
Tangentia Commerce Gateway aims at addressing the primary issue of providing real time information from the retailers and e-commerce portals within their own systems without having to do any manual entry. They are keen on building a system where everything is handled electronically with no manual intervention.
Commenting on the launch, Ashish Bhandari, Co-Founder & Joint Managing Director, United Mediaworks said, “India is a growing market in terms of both e-commerce start-ups and newer consumers. With internet penetration increasing across India, specially in rural markets, the need to build a better ecosystem is required. We carried a pilot EDI with Reliance Retail and the response was overwhelming. This is the first time a cloud based EDI solution has happened in India and it was a huge success for both the parties and we hope that we will be able to build this system across other retailers as well, eliminating manual labour completely.”
Speaking on behalf of Tangentia, Managing Partner, Vijay Thomas said, “The e-commerce/retail industry in India is at the cusp of a major inflection point and a lot of investments have been made to solve the ‘last mile for customer’ including e-commerce players creating their own logistics and delivery outfits or using start-ups like Delhivery. The ‘last mile for vendor’ is definitely a problem (and from a glass half full perspective, an opportunity) for both the retail & e-commerce business in India and this is the problem we want to solve. We hope to sign up 500+ customers by end of 2015. Customers who sign up will also immediately have access to 2000+ existing global trade partners allowing them to not just sell within India but globally.”
United Group is a diversified business group in India with interests in Entertainment via United Media Works, which assists in digital content security and distribution through  Digital Cinema Server – DIGIBUTOR and in trading/ fabrics and garments via United Mills & United Fashions. United Fashions is a large vendor to all the major retailers in India like Reliance, Big Bazaar and also many Indian e-commerce portals.
Tangentia has offices in India and offers a proprietary cloud based EDI solution called Tangentia Commerce Gateway(TCG). TCG is in use at 1000+ customers globally. TCG connects vendors to 2000+ global Retail/ Ecommerce companies like Wal-Mart, Amazon, eBay, JC Penney, Carrefour, TESCO and many others. TCG also integrates into 50+ ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, NetSuite as well as some Indian ERP systems like Tally.
