India’s first online aggregator for Tiffins services, FoodAbhi, has raised a seed round of funding from a clutch of investors from the US, UK, India and Netherlands to cover initial operating expenses, to generate revenue and attract the attention of venture capitalists.
FoodAbhi offers meal options in the form of Tiffins or Dabbas, and caters daily and on-demand meals with a finger- click option. As per the company, the consumers in Mumbai can get a tiffin for Rs 70 and also have an option to choose from a variety of cuisines available on the menu.
The service could soon spread to other cities too. The company plans to channelise the raised funds for technology enablers such as apps that will help customers track deliveries and alsofacilitate tracking vendor activities.
FoodAbhi was launched at the end of 2013 on a startup capital of Rs 10 lakh, is now in its second year of operations and has served more than 15,000 tiffins in Mumbai. Founded by 31 year old Amit Dube, a hotel management graduate, and his 28 year-old wife, Shraddha, FoodAbhi provides customers an opportunity to order from handpicked select vendors who have quality and focus on hygiene.
