METRO Cash & Carry, the world’s largest wholesaler, has opened its 17th distribution centre in the country, early this week at Shamshabad in Hyderabad.
Spread in an area of 60,000 sq ft, this is the third outlet in the city of Hyderabad. The other two are located in Moosapet and Uppal.The distribution centre is made with an investment of Rs 70 crores would cater to the needs of small and mid-sized traders, cateres, restaurants and hotels in Shamshabad area. Metro has created job opportunity for 300 employees directly and indirectly through this centre.”METRO’s latest wholesale centre consolidates our experience and learning of over a decade in India. The company offers close to 8,500 products across a multitude of categories such as fruits & vegetables, general grocery, dairy, frozen & bakery products, fish & meat, confectionery, detergents & cleaning supplies, health & beauty products, media & electronics, household goods and apparel.
In May, the company had revealed plans to open a fourth wholesale outlet in Bangalore. The outlet is expected to open by early July in the Binnypet area.
Last year, Metro unveiled plans to expand its network to 50 stores by 2020 in India. The wholesaler had entered India in 2003, but its third outlet was opened in December 2013.
