Proctor & Gamble, one of the largest consumer goods companies in India, which has a brandwidth of diverse products from beauty to health to home and beyond has named the 55-year-old US citizen of Indian origin, Al Rajwani, as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive of P&G India. He takes over from Shantanu Khosla, who ended his 13-year stint in the company — the longest tenure in the role of a CEO in any FMCG company in India — on Tuesday, June 30th.
Rajwani is expected to implement the group’s new global strategy which is faster and more profitable growth to drive strong shareholder value creation.
The company’s expectations are riding on Rajwani’s impressive credentials; over the years as he has delivered double-digit growth for P&G in markets where he managed its operations. Rajwani was quoted as saying that India to him is a melting pot of many countries. For him being P&G India’s CEO is like coming full circle, he said.
In early 2000, a Korean daily, Chosunilbo, praised Rajwani for his understanding and adaptability of the nuances of Korean language and culture. The bonding Rajwani shared with Korean culture enabled P&G Korea to enjoy 10-15 per cent growth.Proctor & Gamble, one of the largest consumer goods companies in India, which has a brandwidth of diverse products from beauty to health to home and beyond has named the 55-year-old US citizen of Indian origin, Al Rajwani, as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive of P&G India.
