Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei is looking to strengthen its presence in India through the affordable smartphone segment (sub Rs 15,000).
Huawei, which is the world’s third largest handset company, has launched four new devices — the Huawei Y336, Huawei Y541, Huawei Y625, and Huawei G620S — which will be available under Huawei’s G and Y series between the price range of Rs 5,499 and Rs 9,499.
“Currently, the affordable smartphone market in India has the largest market share, which is up to two-thirds, 66 per cent approximately, of the total smartphone market share,” P Sanjeev, Huawei Telecommunications India Director Sales (Devices Business) was quoted as saying.
“We will be strengthening our presence with traditional multi-brand retailers and by partnering with top modern trade players such as Croma, Reliance Digital, Sangeetha Retail and The MobileStore in key cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai amongst others,” Sanjeev added.
With the launch of these Huawei’s G and Y series, the company aims to garner 10 per cent share of the market share in the budget segment. “We are very bullish on our growth in India and expect to capture a 10 percent market share in the period of one year,” Sanjeev said.
