Amazon, Ola launch programme to empower ex-service personnel

Global e-commerce major Amazon recently announced the launch of a talent development programme for ex-service personnel in the country.Amazon Military Talent Partnership (AMTP) will offer ex-service personnel and their spouses employment and career development opportunities at Amazon’s operations in India, the company said in an official statement.Amazon is working with Directorate General of Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, to reach out to the community of ex-service personnel and those who are in the process of being relieved from their duties in the next 2-3 months, it said.
Taxi aggregator Ola also announced a partnership with the same department recently to provide an opportunity for ex-servicemen to turn entrepreneurs with Ola.Where Amazon’s group will be known as ‘Amazon Warriors’, ola named its group as ‘Ola Sainik’.
“Our leadership principles resonate with those who have served the country. Their missionary zeal on completing a mission and delivering on their commitments within a given deadline resonate with our customer-obsession,” Amazon India Director Human Resources Raj Raghavan said.Ola will invest in the re-skilling of interested candidates and help them with technology to grow as skilled micro-entrepreneurs on the Ola platform. Ola will also provide training, education and insurance for the family members of ex-servicemen on the Ola app. The first batch of ‘Sainiks’ are expected to join the Ola platform in the coming week.

Amazon said in the United States, the retailer has been recognised among the top military employers in the last three years by G.I. Jobs and US Veterans Magazine in their lists of top 100 companies recruiting veterans.
