One of the oldest toy brands in India, OK Play has launched its first retail store in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. The company plans to come up with 40 more stores all over India in the next year, said the company in a press release. “The launch of OK Play India store is a significant achievement for us and we hope this store will give us an opportunity to increase our brand presence and to reach out to a wider target audience,” said Rajan Handa, Managing Director at OK Play. The store, which will feature an extensive range of toys for all age, will also showcase a range of teethers, rattles, squeakers and themed ride-ons for infants by brands like Tolo, Pockos, Mookie and Chillafish. “We aim to tap on the market potential to give our consumers a wide option of safe and non-toxic toys. They are durable, weather-proof, easy to install and available in attractive colours and conform to International Toy Standard norms,” added Handa. The company has a distributor network of around 8000 retail stores in the country.
The Indian toy industry is estimated at about 1.4 billion US dollars and until now has generated 0.5 per cent of the global market. Going by figures, the recreational toys count to 70-75 per cent of total market, while remaining 25-30 per cent is for toys with educational value. Currently, about 20 percent of the market is served by Indian manufacturers and the rest by import of toys from different countries, mainly from China and Italy.According to the release, the brand has partnered with leading brands from US, UK, Germany, Belgium and Japan to bring toys for the children.
