Avirate, the Sri Lankan apparel brand for women, launched its autumn winter 2015 collection at its exclusive outlet at UB City Mall in Bengaluru. The brand showcased its new arrivals with an haute couture fashion show. At the occasion, it also displayed new signature line created by renowned Canadian designer, Ross Mayer.
The collection focused at fashion essentials that are easy to wear and easy to carry with garments like tops and tunics, at the same time are priced keeping the Indian sensibility in mind. The fashion essential line will be available at all the Avirate exclusive outlets and at Central and Shoppers Stop.
Jahid Osman, Director, Fashion 365 Retail Private Limited and Managing Director, Avirate says, “Avirate is the space that we want to grow. It has taken us four years to understand the market. Right now, we have one store in Delhi; I am sure Delhi can absorb more stores, at least 5-6. Mumbai also has two stores. We are quite large and have a strong presence in southern market, where Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad gives us good sales and growth.”
He further shares that though he finds the trend of premium and luxury garment growing in the country, yet he feels finding the right location is a bigger challenge than the steep rentals in India. Hence, many brands similar to Avirate are struggling to find the right kind of space to retail their products.
Furthermore, Osman has plans to launch a new brand, ‘A Dress’ on the e-commerce portal for the world wide market as well as specific ranges for the Indian audience. Currently, A Dress is available in the UK.
