Kolkata-based ayurvedic major Baidyanath Group is set to enter the FMCG segment with the launch of cosmetics and wellness products under ‘Mantra’ brand.
“We are entering into chemical-free cosmoceutical sector under the brand Mantra. We plan to introduce herbal medicines in newly emerging therapeutic segments, including diabetology, cardiovascular diseases and hepatology,” Shree Baidyanath Ayurved Bhawan Executive Director Anurag Sharma told PTI.
The Rs 800-crore Shree Baidyanath Ayurved Bhawan (Baidyanath) was founded in 1917, and currently has 10 manufacturing facilities producing over 700 formulations, which are retailed across India.
“We have got Mantra cleared by the USFDA and successfully launched the products in the US market. We are now launching in India to start with tier-I cities by March 2016. The 40 products under Mantra brand will get manufactured at the company’s facilities in Himachal Pradesh,” Sharma said.
