For the ninth edition of the cricket tournament, Star India, which owns the digital rights of the cash-cum-controversy rich Indian Premier League, has roped in Flipkart and eight other sponsors on Hotstar.
The brands that have already come on board as sponsors are Flipkart, AXE (Hindustan Unilever), Volini (Sun Pharma) and Raymond. Whereas Lloyd, Hindware, Hero Fincorp, Airtel and Amazon have also booked ad spots on Hotstar.
In the previous edition of the IPL, Star had sponsors like Hindustan Unilever, Flipkart, Arvind, Housing.com, Karbonn and Freecharge, with Vodafone, Bharti Airtel, ITC, iBAll and Lava also taking ad spots.
On the other hand, Sony Pictures Networks (SPN), the television rights holder of the league, has sold out the advertising inventory, securing Rs 1,200 crore from IPL 2016.
