Taxi aggregator Uber has filed a case against its rival Ola. In a petition filed in the Delhi High Court, Uber has accused Ola of making false bookings on its platform by setting up fake rider accounts, misleading its drivers through fake calls impersonating Uber and giving other misleading information.
In the petition, Uber has sought declaration, perpetual injunction and damages” against Ola. It has alleged that Ola is interfering in the business of the company. A notice has been issued to Ola by Justice Vipin Sanghi who was hearing the matter. The notice asks Ola to file replies before the next hearing which is set for September 14.
It has been claimed by Uber that due to these activities, the company has suffered a loss of around Rs 50 crore and over 20,000 drivers have left the company’s platform.
Earlier, Ola had filed a contempt petition in the Delhi High Court against Uber alleging that violating Delhi High Court’s October 14, 2015 order, Uber has been buying new diesel cabs. According to Delhi High Court’s October order, the app-based companies can ply diesel taxis from point to point in the national capital only till March this year and after that they will have to shift entirely to CNG cabs.
In the last hearing on March 15, the Delhi High Court had directed Ola, Uber and the radio taxis’ association to give details, including registration numbers, of those cabs which they intend to phase out by March 31 as per the Supreme Court’s order.
The notice asks Ola to file replies before the next hearing which is set for September 14.
