Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) will soon rent out its New Delhi master warehouse to the online sellers at a subsidized rate to store their products. This would be beneficial for HUL too, as the e-commerce sites will promote their products on their platforms.
It is just an initial attempt for the FMCG giant with etailers on digital payments also Paytm and if it works, they might extend the same offer to leaders like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal.
For the online sellers, it is a big challenge to keep all their products available for online consumers and sellers. Mostly it is risky to stock the full assortment.
The initiative taken by HUL will cut down the complexities of the supply chain and also reduce operational costs for the sellers. It will also connect the buyer directly to the brand.
“We started the pilot a few days back with HUL’s wellness and beauty products range. The project tries to solve problems of sellers, consumers and a huge brand such as HUL,” VP, Paytm, Saurabh Vashishtha was quoted by TNN as saying.
