Bigbasket says huge surge in organic juice demand this summer

A Bigbasket survey has revealed that the online supermarket – one of the largest in India – has seen an 86 per cent increase in demand for organic juices and Ayurvedic drinks this summer.
The survey concludes that there seems to be a clear shift to healthier and natural thirst quenchers in beverages that customers buy as sales for carbonated beverages have comparatively grown by a much lower percentage.
“Our survey shows that customers are becoming more and more health conscious and are moving from traditional soft drinks to healthier organic and ayurvedic juices,” Co-founder Bigbasket, Vipul Parekh said in a statement.
“Health is always everyone’s priority and organic food, healthy diet and supplements are some important daily needs,” he added.
Grocery orders on Bigbasket increased by 29 per cent during the start of the summer season as compared to winter. This reflects the trend of people preferring to order groceries online during the summer than go to a nearby shop, simply to avoid the sweltering heat.
Bigbasket Leads The Race
According to a recent market research report published by global consultancy firm TechSci Research titled “India Online Grocery Market By Product, Consumer Behaviour, Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 – 2021”, BigBasket.com has emerged as a leader in brand awareness in competitive landscape of online grocery shopping experience in India.
BigBasket.com run by a team of professionals – including Hari Menon, VS Sudhakar, Vipul Parekh and Abhinay Choudhry – is a professionally managed online grocery shopping company with more than 14,000 products and over 1000 brands recorded revenues of US$34.84 Million in FY 15 which is further targeting to reach US$165.69 Millionin FY 16.
BigBasket.com has raised more than US$ 95 Million in multiple rounds of funding till Dec 2015 and is heavily investing in its brand awareness campaigns through various media channels which has resulted in taking the company to a leadership position in India online grocery shopping brand awareness evaluation survey conducted by TechSci Research.
