The Beer Café, one of India’s leading alco-bev service chain, has associated with London-based Blippar, an image recognition and augmented reality platform, to help its consumers know their beer better.
Using Blippar App, one can turn any static bottle ON, inside the Cafe, and convert it to an interactive media vehicle. Being a visual browser it is like an eye lens that recognizes the bottle labels and gives relevant information about the beer.

It’s a pretty simple process: Scan the bottle and witness it come live on your phone with a pub kind of a set-up. This is followed by the four clickable elements about the beer – origin, tasting notes, Alcohol by volume(ABV), Beer type – appearing on the screen to give an understanding about the beer better and make an informed choice.
Users who blipp labels can also share their learning’s on their social profiles for friends to discover.

“This is the first time in India that Blippar as an AR platform has taken an initiative to cover almost all beer brands present in the country,” MD, Blippar India, Arnav Ghosh, said in a press statement.
“Today restaurateurs are using innovative ways to engage the consumers and attract them to their restaurants. Unique décor, quirky theme and International festivals have become a common site at all restaurants. The Beer Café wanted to do something different. Beer lovers are very inquisitive about what beer are they drinking – what’s the place of origin, the alcohol value, what type of beer is it and above all – how does it tastes. There was this knowledge gap understood by Beer Café amongst the consumers, which required to be filled. We came up with the idea of Blipping all the 56 different kind of beers available at the café and make it interesting for the beer lovers,” Ghosh added.
Founder & CEO, The Beer Café, Rahul Singh, said, “We are glad to associate with Blippar and use augmented reality to help inquisitive beer enthusiasts distinguish their lagers from their ales. “Know Your Beer” is a unique visual browsing feature to engage, educate consumers and weave in the “wow” magic to give consumers a truly world- class beering experience on every visit.”
