Along with an urban FC in Chennai, Amazon India now has three FCs in Tamil Nadu offering over one million cubic feet of storage space for faster delivery during the upcoming festive season.
These FCs in the state will further enable Amazon to support deliveries under its recently launched Prime programme and offer faster delivery to a wider set of customers during the upcoming festive season.
“As we gear up for the festive season, fulfilment capacity will play a defining role in shaping this experience. For our customers, these FCs bring us closer to them in the region and will not only support our Prime promise of one-day & two-day delivery but will also allow us to efficiently serve them this festive season. For our sellers, these FCs will enable thousands of small & medium businesses to save money by replacing their upfront capital expense with low variable cost and pay only for the storage space they use and the orders that we fulfil,” VP, India customer fulfilment, Amazon India, Akhil Saxena, said.
Amazon has also announced the launch of a community centre in Tamil Nadu near their fulfilment centres. Saxena said, “As a corporate member of this community we believe we have to play our role in creating opportunities that will transform the lives of these local communities. Our continuous work in the region will play a central role in enabling this.”
