Target Corp announced on Monday that it had named Shekar Natarajan for the newly created role of senior vice president, network planning and operational design.
Natarajan will oversee design of the company’s direct-to-store and direct-to-customer supply chain systems and report to Arthur Valdez, Target’s Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain and Logistics Officer.
At Walmart, Natarajan was vice president of last mile operations, emerging sciences and operational excellence. He had been overseeing a project at Walmart testing drones in its warehouses.
Part of Natarajan’s duties will include implementing “new automation and other technologies to enhance speed, accuracy and efficiency,” the company said in a statement. He starts later this month and will work out of Target’s Sunnyvale, California, office.
