The 8,500 sq. ft. Anita Dongre store is at the 200-year-old Sassoon Building in Mumbai
Mumbai: Renowned fashion designer Anita Dongre has recently launched her newest flagship store at the historic Sassoon Building. The 8,500 sq. ft. store is situated in the heart of Mumbai’s art district, Kalaghoda.
“It’s been a particular joy to realise a vision that mixes Indian crafts with colonial architecture against art that celebrates nature’s bounty. I’m excited to watch people experience this space through all their senses,” Anita Dongre, who runs a fashion retail company House of Anita Dongre Ltd. said.
The designer has occupied the ground along with the three upper floors of the Sassoon Building. The ground floor features jewellery and Anita Dongre’s newly launched vegan accessories, set against custom-designed wallpaper that draws from Anita Dongre’s embroidery patterns. The second floor features menswear against grey and gold hand-painted pichhwai walls while the third floor is dedicated to the bridal collection.
Founded in 1995 by Anita Dongre, Meena Sehra and Mukesh Sawlani, House of Anita Dongre Ltd. is one of India’s fashion houses. Dongre, who runs House of Anita Dongre, launched a line of vegan luxury handbags and belts in January.
Speaking about the line Anita Dongre said, “This line is created for women who wear their values on their sleeve, a philosophy of fashion that includes conscious, ethical, and timelessly elegant pieces.”
