CM inaugurates EA Mall in Chennai

Express Avenue Mall, South India`s largest shopping mall, a venture of Express Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, was inaugurated on Tuesday by Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi. The Governor of Tamil Nadu Dr.Surjeet Singh Barnala also graced the occasion. Built over a 10 acre property with an investment of approximately Rs 750 crores, Anna Salai`s newest addition promises an attraction for tourists and shoppers across South India.

Strategically located on Whites Road, in Central Business District of Chennai (CBD), the `green` mall is Tamil Nadu`s biggest yet, housing some of the best global brands. The mall offers products and services ranging from fashion, food to home needs, leisure and entertainment. Matching international standards for the discerning customer, the Express Avenue Mall has drawn from the world`s best to create a distinctive shopping and entertainment experience. Highly accessible, the mall is bordered by Anna Salai, Pattulos Road, Woods Road and Whites Road. The premises will house a boutique hotel and high-end offices also. In addition, the mall is designed to host 50,000 people at any given time and the central atrium spreads over 10,000 sq ft.

The Express Avenue Mall has three floors of retail space, a building for corporate offices and a hotel. The eight lakh sq. ft. of retail space has been filled with several premium global brands. The 50,000 sq.ft. food court, EA garden, has 25 counters with several food and beverage options including Oriental, North Indian, South India, and Italian cuisine to give a delectable Indian and International experience.

Conceived on an `open` concept, buildings will only occupy 3.57 acres of the total 10 acre plot. Mobility convenience has been kept topmost in mind, and the mall is equipped with 26 lifts, 34 escalators and four travelators. The mall has also been designed with plenty of drive-in space and ample car park. The three basement parking is equipped to handle about 2,000 vehicles.

On the entertainment front, the mall houses Satyam Cinemas, which has a eight-screen multiplex with a seating capacity of 1,300 sprawling over 50,000 sq.ft. to provide a different cinema experience. Another prominent attraction of the mall is, `Fun City`, a play area for children replete with arcade games, shooting games, carousel, bumper cars and many more.

Designed to global standards, the mall has six atriums with natural light, 10 file covers, each with a height of approximately 75 feet. The centre of the atrium is covered with glass and they are designed to be flanked by two 10-storey buildings, one a corporate block and the other a hotel. The entire space has been carefully designed so that it is accessible to the physically challenged.
