The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee selected Delhi-based fashion designers, Ashima and Leena Singh, to design costumes for one segment of the opening and two segments of the closing ceremonies. The games are scheduled between October 3-14.
The celebrated designers, who operate out of their studio in Mehrauli, have created a segment with their garments that will in fact be the first act in the opening and the closing ceremonies. The designer duo will be giving all participants a trendy and cultural look to reflect the rich tradition of the country.
"We are proud to be associated with the Commonwealth Games. It is really a matter of immense joy for us,"says Leena.
"We were asked by the OC to create designs to complement the event, which we wholeheartedly accepted. Being one of the most prestigious events of the country, we may face some teething troubles in designing the costumes. But we will ensure a flamboyant and aesthetic design for the Games," says Leena.
However, she did not divulge details regarding the creations for the games saying, “We have kept it secret and will unravel it during the ceremony.”
