Landmarc Leisure Corporation Ltd plans to open its first training institute ‘Svastii Wellness Academy’ at Andheri in Mumbai. The Group claims it to be Mumbai’s largest academy, which is spread across 4,000 square feet. The courses will start from February 14, 2011, wherein three different batches will be conducted for different programmes. The registration for the programmes can be done via svastii.com/learn or [email protected].
Paulomi Dhawan, Managing Director, Landmarc Leisure Corporation Ltd said, “In the next couple of years, over 700 new spas, both homegrown and international brands, are expected to open in India. These figures will result in a deficit in the talent pool and a growing demand of skilled labor. According to the industry estimates, the existing 2,300 spas in the country have created direct and indirect employment for about 400,000 people and require 20,000 more trained professionals. We see this as a great opportunity to provide alternate career options to people from a variety of backgrounds.”
The academy offers courses in three verticals: spa, salon and wellness. The course on spa includes different types of massages like Indian, Chinese, Thai, Swedish etc; salon will include hairstyling, grooming, bridal make-up, pedicure, etc. and wellness will cover yoga, ayurveda, diet, etc. The short-term courses will be from 10 days to three months, whereas anything beyond three months will be considered as long-term course, and will be categorized as basic, intermediate and advanced course. The minimum course fee is Rs 10,000, however; it all depends upon the module since the entire course material under the three verticals has been divided into different modules.
Some of the advanced courses offered by Svastii Wellness Academy will be recognized by CIBTAC, which will enable professionals studying these courses to avail of opportunities both in India and abroad. In case of freshers, counseling will be provided to help them choose the course with respect to their aptitude and interest.
