Trent, which operates the Westside chain of retail stores, will tie up with budding fashion designers to stock their collections in the stores.
Confirming the news to Indiaretailing, a company spokesperson said, “This is our way to help the budding designers and also to strengthen our product base with high-end apparel.”
Westside, which primarily retails private labels, has already entered into a licensee and distribution agreement with Canadian fashion brand Groggy, and has tied up with three emerging fashion designers who showcased their collections at Lakme India Fashion Week.
The first collection is expected to hit the market by September-October 2008. Westside reported sales of Rs 144 crore for the third closing in December 2007.
