HCL Digilife, the electronics retail format from HCL, has planned to expand the number of its stores to around 120 from the existing 70 outlets in the country. The company will also open similar stores in tier II and III cities in the current fiscal.
In an email to Indiaretailing, the company said, “Plans are to touch the 120 stores mark before the year draws to a close. We are expanding evenly and extending our reach from metros to tier II and tier III cities.”
Elaborating plans, the company informed that top brands including Apple, Nokia, Toshiba, Kodak, Canon and HCL occupy a substantial amount of space on the shelves of its stores. Products include digital cameras, laptops, mobile phones, ipods, and Microsoft Xbox’.
Vivek Seigell, country head – retail and e-tail, HCL Infosystems said, “In our stores, we provide complete home entertainment solutions to consumers. Our expansions are thus planned in sync with our vision to be the largest home entertainment solutions provider in the country.”
The company has recently been awarded as the Retailer of the Year – Consumer Durables in the Asia Retail Congress. Besides, the company has also been awarded numerous awards that include ‘No.1 IT Retail Company – VAR India’ and India retail Award 2008 for ‘Most Admired Retailer of the Year – Consumer Durables at India Retail Forum’.
