Odyssey diversifies, launches eyewear concept store

Must Read

After successfully establishing its brand name in the business of leisure retailing, Odyssey India Limited has ventured in the fashion-and-lifestyle category with the launch of an eyewear concept store called ‘The Eyewear Store’, in Hyderabad.

Speaking to Indiaretailing, TS Ashwin, MD, Odyssey India Limited, said, “We have seen various concept stores across the globe and realised that there’s potential for such niche stores in our country as well. The design, feel and environment created inside the store is in sync with such premium stores the world over. We’ll try stocking every luxury or premium eyewear brand.”

Quizzed if the company is planning more such concept stores for other accessories/categories, Ashwin said, “We keep exploring opportunities and might introduce standalone stores for other categories as well. As of now, we’ll focus on eyewear. Another standalone eyewear store may open after three months. The express format – called Eyewear Express, sized about 200-600 square feet – will be a part of the Odyssey stores.”

Spread across 2,000 square feet, the store offers a plethora of prescription frames and sunglasses from mid-premium, premium and designer brands including RayBan, Fastrack, Poloroid, Levis, CAT, Vogue, Ferrari, Versace, Mont Blanc and Bvlgari, selling in the price range of Rs 1,500-Rs 35,000. Also, there are designer’s frames from leading brands costing upwards of one lakh rupees, which can be ordered through the store.

The Eyewear Store also has an eye-testing machine with trained staff and an advanced contact lenses clinic sporting brands like Bausch & Lomb.
