The Bhubaneswar-based business management institute, KIIT, has initiated talks with leading retail chains of India including Pantaloon Retail and Spencer’s Retail for designing the course content of its newly planned retail management course.
“We intend to introduce a high quality and specialised programme in retail management, which will be different from similar programmes offered by other B-schools. Our objective is to prepare our students enrolled in the retail management course for managerial positions in the retail industry,” LK Vaswani, director of KIIT School of Management, said in a statement.
This move by the institute is in sync with its plans to launch more industry-specific programmes. “We are focusing on key areas including banking, insurance, retail, information technology and entrepreneurship, which can be offered as specialised electives in our regular MBA programme,” Vaswani informed.
Among the sector-specific management programmes, KIIT School of Management is currently offering a one-year PG Diploma course in Banking and Insurance Management.
