IOCL to have multiple task zones in northeast

Must Read

The north-eastern states in India will soon be flaunting multi-task fuel retail outlets as the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has decided to introduce grocery stores, courier outlets, eateries and ATM facilities at the premises of its outlets in the region.

According to Subrato Ghosh, general manager of the north-east integrated state office of IOCL, the company has rolled out this plan for optimum utilisation of the unused space at its retail outlets in order to garner additional revenue.

D Bharali, chief retail sales manager of north east integrated state office said, “The oil companies are bleeding due to losses. Under such circumstances, innovative ways of marketing and margin neutralization can help oil companies to survive in the market. With our retail outlets located at prime locations in these cities there exists a great potential to explore the non- fuel business.”

IOCL plans to invest around Rs 600 to 700 crore for giving a facelift to its retail outlets and Kisan Seva Kendras (KSK) in the northeast over the next couple of years. The company also plans to strengthen its network of 738 retail outlets and KSKs in the region by setting up another 30 fuel retail outlets.
