“If you wait to do everything until you’re sure it’s right, you’ll probably never do much of anything,” said Subhinder Singh, MD, Reebok India while speaking at India Fashion Forum 2009 (IFF ‘09) in Mumbai. Singh was speaking on the topic ‘Marketing Courage for Smart Move’.
The six parameters on which Singh defined courage were – courage to be paradigm pioneers, courage to explore, courage to innovate, courage to break stereotypes, courage to be creative and courage to own up the future. Sharing examples of how Reebok went ahead to explore each of the above mentioned courage; Singh aptly mentioned that we limit our creative thinking to ourselves and do not give them an opportunity to be a part of our business plans fearing that they would fall back. He said, “A ship is safe in harbour, but that’s not what ships are for.”
Tin Eynon, CEO, Prozone Enterprises Pvt Ltd urged the audience to give Indian fashion its due credit instead of just aping the other parts of the world. He led everyone to think if we have any ‘Indian fashion’ within the country? “The raw material for fashion – textiles is at our doorstep but unfortunately we still have not been able to define and take forward Indian fashion,” said Eynon.
