In an attempt to tackle the problem of counterfeit products entering the Indian market, FMCG major Dabur India has identified the printing press involved in the printing of spurious Dabur Lal Tail labels in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Ghaziabad Police, which led the raid, arrested two accused — Jitender Sharma and Sanjay for their alleged involvement with the activity.
According to a Dabur India press release, police has recovered around 6,270 fake front and back labels of the brand and seized spurious goods worth over Rs 10 million.
“Company has mapped out the locations where these activities take place and is going after the spurious and fake product manufacturers in a planned manner,” quoted a company spokesperson in the release.
Besides endangering the lives of people who use them, the spurious products also cause an annual loss of around Rs 300 billion to the industry and Rs 150 billion to the Government exchequer, added the release.
