HyperCity to open its fifth store in Thane on Jan 14

Hypermarket chain HyperCity is set to open its fifth store in India, at Thane in Maharashtra, on January 14, 2010. The state already has two HyperCity outlets present in Malad, Mumbai and Vashi. The other two operational outlets are at Jaipur and Cyberabad. Following the opening tomorrow, the chain will occupy a total retail space of about 5 lakh square feet across its five stores.

The new HyperCity would be of 1,00,000 sq feet in size and would offer a wide selection of innovative products sourced from both local and global markets. The store would have a wide range of merchandise across categories such as fresh produce, food & grocery, homeware, home entertainment, hi-tech, appliances, furniture, sports, toys, & fashion, accessories and footwear. The outlet would also be providing free pick and drop bus services to customers.

The first Hypercity store opened in Mumbai in May, 2006, spread over 120,000 sq.ft. of retail space. Besides introducing several firsts to Indian retailing, HyperCity has an exclusive supply agreement with Waitrose, the leading UK supermarket chain, and an exclusive arrangement with Raleigh Cycles for India.
