The Body Shop bullish on expansion

Must Read

The Body Shop (TBS), which offers a number of nature-inspired beauty products, plans to open five stores this month and three more in July.

These stores will be located at Colaba, Mumbai; Express Avenue Mall, Chennai; Shoppers Stop, Mulund, Mumbai; Shoppers Stop, Bannerghata, Bangalore; Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi; and the T3 international terminal and domestic terminal of the Delhi airport.

With the launch of these stores, TBS aims to expand its customer base pan-India and offer world-class customer loyalty programme, “Love Your Body”.

Shriti Malhotra, GM, The Body Shop, India, says, “TBS has 40 stores across 18 cities in the country. While we have a number of stores in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai, we have also opened stores in smaller cities like Indore, Lucknow, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Baroda, Jaipur, and Mangalore. In the next few months, we will be expanding in Jalandhar, Kanpur, and other tier II and III cities. By the end of this fiscal, we will have approximately 65 stores in the country.”

Asserting that the customer response to the brand has been “fabulous”, Malhotra says, “We want to make sure we are accessible to as many customers as possible and hence we also have a shop-in-shop model in key department stores like Shoppers Stop so that we are also accessible to the department store customers. Currently, TBS is present in the shop-in-shop format at Debenhams in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon.”

The Body Shop’s new shop-in-shop at Shoppers Stop, Mulund, Malhotra says, will offer customers an extensive range of ‘naturally inspired and ethically produced’ cosmetics and toiletries that are 100 per cent vegetarian. “TBS has also launched many other products at lower prices, making the brand affordable to many more consumers across metros, mini metros, tier II and III cities in the country,” she adds.

Quest Retail Pvt Ltd, part of Planet Retail, is the master franchise for The Body Shop in India.
