MARG Junction Mall, Chennai has announced that it has inked deals with three mega retailers – PVR Cinemas, Shoppers Stop and HyperCity – as key anchors. The upcoming mall, promoted by MARG, an infrastructure, real estate development and services company, is scheduled to become operational by the first quarter of FY 2012-13.
Announcing these partnerships, GRK Reddy, chairman and managing director, MARG Ltd, said, “It is a privilege to be associated with brands such as PVR Cinemas, Shoppers Stop and HyperCity. With the launch of MARG Junction Mall, we propose to offer the best-in-class entertainment and shopping experience in addition to a social asset that will give a fillip to modern retail.”
Commenting on the tie-up, Pramod Arora, group president, PVR Ltd, said, “MARG Junction Mall has provided us with an excellent opportunity for our second multiplex in Chennai, with a first-of-its kind premier facility.”
Speaking on the development, Govind Srikhande, customer care associate and managing director, Shoppers Stop Ltd, said, “With spacious interiors and a prolific variety of brands, we are certain that our customers will be delighted to have an additional fashion landmark in Chennai.”
Mark Ashman, CEO, HyperCity Retail (I) Ltd, said, “This significant development marks HyperCity’s foray into Chennai, with the commitment to provide consumers an authentic hypermarket experience.”
Apart from the anchors, MARG Junction has also signed up small-format stores such as Ray-Ban, Hewlett Packard, Eva, Riyaa and restaurants such as Marry Brown.
Spread across an area of 1.83 mn sq. ft, MARG Junction claims to be Chennai’s largest ‘mixed use’ development consisting of a one mn sq. ft. mall, international business-class hotel and 1,64,000 sq. ft office towers. Going the eco-friendly way, MARG Junction Mall is developed and designed on the ‘green building’ concept.
