British retailer Tesco has dropped its long-running trademark suit at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) against its German competitor Metro AG over the use of the Metro trading name.
This was disclosed by a spokesperson of the ECJ to just-food stating that Tesco had “requested that its case be withdrawn.”
The ECJ judges have therefore scrapped plans to hear the case slated for October 24 against an earlier ruling blocking Tesco’s opposition to the German company’s planned registration of the ‘Metro’ brand, also used by Tesco.
